Interview with Lene Juhlin

The most popular attractions in Enköping, according tourists, are the parks and the churches, says Lene Juhlin. There are several annual events in Enköping.

During the summer the tours of the parks are really popular among tourists. The tours of the parks may take an hour or two. It is also possible to ride the blue train for a more swift access to the parks. Many tourists also visit the beach Bredsand.

In the winter people enjoy skiing, participate in fishing competitions and skating on the ice of Lake Mälaren. The indoor pool is also very popular.

The older people think that the shopping facilities are very good because we have such a unique shops, while the younger people don’t even shop their clothes here. They go to another town for shopping. There are several of tours like park walks for one to two hours, train ride in the park for one and a half hour.

If you like to have a night on the town in Enköping you may visit tJoar Blå, Star lounge, Stats Hörnan, Corner.

If enjoy bathing you may in Bredsand, Koffsan, Ekila bath, Kulla, Ön which are bathing places around Lake Mälaren. If you want to bath in pool you can choose Fjärdhundra outdoor bath or the bathhouse in Enköping. You can camp in Bredsand and Härjarö camping.

In Enöping you may visit the following museums: Enköpings museum, JP Johansson museum , Dr Westerlund museum , The Old cinema, the Carpentry, Bryggholmen and Hjälsta Agriculture.

Cultural week (Kulturveckan)


The Culture week is a culinary event with a focus on food
from several different countries. Around the city Enköping
food producers, restaurants and state parks are open and
in the School Park a large food market is arranged.
There are also performances at the National Park's main stage.
Welcome to meet spring and good food during the annual culture week!

Harbor Festival (Hamnfestivalen)

Harbor Festival in Enköping has a long tradition and is the main event of the summer. The festival has attracted several thousand participants for 19 years. It is a festival for both children and adults. There is a tivoli and many artists perform. There is a variety of food to choose from in the cozy environment of Enköping harbor. The Harbor Festival five scenes feature a wide selection of music and great activities. There are also children's activities, such as magic shows, karaoke for kids, face painting, fish pond and a visit to the candy wolf at candy mall. The Harbor Festival in the summer of 2010 took place at the same time as the new street festival. But this year they have to merge into a single festival called the Street Festival.

BBQ Night (Grillnatta)

BBQ Night is an annual event in the latter part of
the summer and it´s arranged in the squares of Enköping.
That day the shops are open longer and food is served in the square.
If you shop for a certain sum you will receive food stampswhich are used for the grilled food served in the square.

What you can do in Enköping

There are plenty of activities to do in Enköping. Whether you want to play golf in the green environment, challenge yourself on the horseback, experience the nature of Mälaren from the bike seat, try to fish or paddle in the lake. 

The parks - The parks in Enköping are the biggest tourist attractions and the parks are the reason why so many foreigners (like Dutchmen) come here to watch and walk in our amazing parks. Tours are organized for one to two hours in the park. You can also choose a two hour bike tour. If you don’t want to walk or bike can you choose a guided tour in a mini train which takes you around the park for about one and a half hours.

Bathing - If you want to bathe there are several of options to choose between. There are a sixteen miles of beaches with many bathing areas. One example is Bredsand which is a very family friendly and safe beach with areas for activities and games. Bredsand is also a camping site. If you prefer to swim in a pool is Fjärdhundra outdoor swimming pools are situated two miles from Enköping city center. There are three pools and nearly you will find both golf and tennis courses. If you want to swim indoors there is a bathhouse in Enköping with four pools. There is also a bowling hall in the same building. 

Biking - If you want to bike in Enköping there’s a lot of biking trails. The three most popular biking trails are Mälardalsleden which is a tourist trail through central parts of Sweden. Another trail is the Culture trail which coils through farmland with ruins from the bronze and Iron Age, through villages with medieval churches. The last trail is the bathing trail which for example passing Boglösa and also passing through a rich farmland with many precious buildings.  

Hiking - There are some hiking trails if you prefer to hike in the nature. One of the most popular is the Uppland trail which extends over 42 km around in Enköping. You may start at the bath in Härjarö, by the hostel in Bredsand, or if you prefer to walk a shorter distance at the sports hall in Lillkyrka.

Fishing - You can fish perch with handheld equipment and there, pike perch and pike in Mälaren.  If you want a rowboat, Enköpings tourist center has three rowboats you can rent in Koffsan and three in Gubbudden/Tedarön. You can also rent lifejackets if you like to.

Golf - You can golf on our eighteen hole course which is a modern park course there it also is a restaurant. If you want to play mini golf there are a several courses around Enköping.
